I dont like their music that much. But a lot of respect for their hard work. They sold out all them venues and they weren't even signed.
Shikari are innovative, abrasive, fresh, powerful on stage and smart enough to not have to hang on to the legs of major labels. They got this for working their butts off and they deserve every ounce of it. Well done to them.

and yeah you can bang on about how loads of bands were mixing dance + hardcore or w/e before them but no band in this day and age is original, and ES are amazing, they go beyond just a trendy new scene band.

So to the people who do just read the kerrang issue with enter shikari cover. they have worked their arses off for years and i know this because being from st albans myself, i have seen them many times. And every time i see them play, i think they deserve these awards and so much more!

I like Enter Shikari and think they deserved this. They made a good album and have good live shows, which they worked hard to do. I don't understand how people can call them emo, maybe if some people learnt the actual meaning of the word they would see they're not.
Enter Shikari are awsome, less than a year ago they played at my fav pub, in this small town I live in! Now they are mainstream. Only thing I can say is they shouldn't have remade the video for Anything Can Happen... The original video captured the true meaning while the remake is crap

they have been touring constantly for like 3 or 4 years and they built up a fan base by their energetic live shows, word of mouth and myspace....

I have yet to see ES in concert, I'm going in October. I love this band they ARE NOT pushed by the media and they totally deserved this award. End of.

Are we talking about the same band here? Ive seen them live a few times too, they are fantastic. They've worked very hard to get where they are today, so quit talking out of your ass. They put on fantastic live shows and are really interactive with the crowd.
Last time they played in Brighton, it was in a tiny club called the Komedia. This was way before they were well-known. Next time they come to Brighton which is in November, they're playing The Dome, which holds a couple of thousand people. You cant tell me they've got there by being shit live.
And arent nice to others? I think not. When I saw them last Monday, they stayed outside chatting to their fans for absolutely ages, they were lovely to everyone.

enter won this award cuzz they snubbed any major record deals that came their way and put out their music creating their own record label from scratch, that is admirable.
This band don't deserve to win. I think Tom was right. The Spirit of Independence award was tailored to fit Enter Shikari. Because Enter Shikari release their EPs and LPs on that Ambush Reality whosafudge, and NO other band would think that seventh-rate rock or whatever it's meant to be, combined with the scourge of the music world - trance (along with drum n' bass, house, jungle, etc.), would be a good idea. Why? Because it isn't.
Bands can do composite dance and rock music quite well ie Terrorvision and the Prodigy. But GLOWSTICKS? Wigga please.
To summarise, Enter Shikari are overhyped because of their apparent "uniqueness". That, my audience of scene kids, is BS.
PS: I know the award wasn't made for Skikari because the Prodigy won it. Shut up.

Oh yeah. Setting up your own label and releasing stuff on it is not admirable. Nor should it be celebrated - at least seven new indie labels are set up every hour. Or something. I'm setting 527 labels up now as I type.

One more thing. Fuck all yis people who think that trance seasonings, glowsticks and human pyramids make for a good live unique show. Dinlos.

one of the hardest working bands ive ever met, totally deserve this award!! It really is quite amusing how seriously people take all this stuff, at the end of the day we all have different opinions on music.......we cant all love every band!! This hating really does just make me cringe sometimes though, have some respect for a group of guys making some moneyand getting some credit from doing what they love, jealousy is a bitch aint it!!!!
