How the fuck can a band like Lostprophets who haven't released any material in about three years and a band like You Me At Six who have been on the radar for about four months get nominated for Best British Band whilst bands like Skindred and The Ghost Of A Thousand are completely overlooked? Madina Lake get put forward for Best International Band but no place for bands like Foo Fighters whose time in the public eye will last a lot longer than it takes Madina Lake to do their hair. This is the trouble with opening the nominations at an early stage to complete morons who have an IQ a considerable percentage lower than they have MySpace friends.

What a load of bollocks - this is what happens when you shovel shit into everyone's faces week in week out. Obviously Kerrang's emo fan-boy arse-kissing fan base didn't want to see any repeat of Machine Head's domination at the awards last year, hence why all the MCR fans threw their toys out of the pram last year when Machine Head cleaned house. They might as well rename these awards the Kerrang Fashion Awards and get Gok Wan to present the whole thing. Honestly, 90% of these bands are style over substance. Kerrang constant featuring of these bands is killing the British rock and metal scene. Evile made a huge impact with their debut album and didn't even get a look in, while Youmeatsix get nominated for doing what exactly? Martin ... YOU ME AT SIX = BEST BRITISH BAND The fans have spoken, ya da, ya da...and I suppose this is an accurate representation of the UK's rock fanbase...right. You might argue that these awards are for the fans, by the fans, but at least with the Metal Hammer Awards we get a list of nominees given and vote accordingly - its much more representative of actual achievement. What have Youmeatsix, Dead Swans or We Are The Ocean done? NOTHING! The fact of the matter is that band achievement is now purely gaged on column inches in Kerrang and how many friends you have on your Myspace. The awards are basically nothing but arse-kissing cunningly disguised as hero worship. People voting til their fingers bleed - get a life! These awards are purely about Myspace popularity and hairstyles. Only the best album category looks reasonable. The rest of it is a joke. Enjoy it while you can, because we all know that Kerrang will move onto the next trend before long - and then we'll be wondering where all these bands you namecheck on a daily basis have gone.

I completly agree with Peter on this. This is THE most DISSAPOINTING Kerrang awards EVER. Eliot Minor are HARDLY a rock band.... This is purely pop now. And even a poppy emo type band like Kids In Glass Houses aren't even nominated for best british band??? They deserve it for all their hard work!! They're brilliant live and are better than Eliot Minor - by MILES. Yes they're not REALLY metal but theyre good at what they do and they should represent the emo scene for Britain. The best british newcomers are also, dissapointing - Dead Swans are AWFUL live. Check out Tortuga, or Lower Than Atlantis or even The Computers from Exeter - those bands are way more exciting and represent the scene! What has happened to Kerrang????!!!! I feel like the magazine isn't showing all the great bands! Evile were amazingly sucessful on their debut album, and were the best live act I've seen all year - and NOTHING. Remember kids, this magazine has been owned by EMAP entertainment for a while now and their demographic has changed as a result - they get paid to write about bands by the records companies with the most money to throw at them for PR and Marketing.
