I like A7X generally but I didn't like this latest album. I appreciate that they can't stay metal forever and they have to change with the times and with themselves but really, there's only two good songs on this album and neither of them are Almost Easy or Dear God.

Dont get me wrong, I LOVE both bands, but I think BFMV should have got it instead. Avenged Sevenfold (album) was great, but not exactly up to par with thier other stuff and it seems like they made thier songs alot more simple. Scream Aim Fire has alot more emotion and sounds awesome start to finish. Plus it did better in the charts

In Flames definately should've won this but I can understand why these "Avenged Sevenfold" guys beat them to it.. it's all about the image really. Being nominated is enough for IF, they are grateful enough for their UK fans to have helped them be in the final running. We'll see where the other bands nominated for this award are in 5 years time - In Flames will still be going strong and the others wil be no where to be seen. Not only is "A Sense Of Purpose" a freakin' masterpiece, but considering how long the band has been going it just shows what real musical talent is, amazing album after amazing album - simple as. I'm just glad them Cancer Bats didn't win this, that would have been an atrocity.

I like Bullet but I'm pleased Avenged won as everyone of them albums has been different, Bullets is juat more of the same. Avenged will still be around for years to come, writing and producing. Bands like MSI and MCR will be gone in 5 years time as they have limited talent.
To be honest there weren't too many great albums out this year. Although that's my personal opinion and I guess the fact that almost all my favourite bands released an album last year, e.g Clutch, Turisas, Dillinger Escape Plan, Machine Head, Finger Eleven, Every Time I Die (i think that was last year but I'm unsure) so that's probably affected my opinion of recent releases. Anyway I think that "Hail Destroyer" was the best album I got this year. They showed great diversity with their sound, no two songs were the same (not literally of course but based on sound), and they showed how great they are at actually playing their instruments in songs like "Regret" (which my favourite song off the album) and finally they had awesome guest vocalists Tim McIlrath and Ben Kowalski (Sorry if I spelt that wrong). Who else agrees with me that Hail destroyer should've of won this award? P.S. I didn't bad mouth any band so don't bad mouth Cancer Bats just cause you're not a fan.
