I can't understand why 'Minor shouldn't have won this- they're the best band on there by far. The thing that disappoints me, i have to say, is that if you read the small print when you vote it says that the winners are decided only PARTLY through the public votes... the people from K! also have a say in it. If it was just done by public votes, 'Minor would have won hands down. I live in the Midlands and have my radio pretty much permenantly tuned in to K! and i couldn't name a single Gallows song... i don't ever recall them being played whereas 'Minor are played quite a lot.

Pretty Much everyone has established that the Kerrang awards are a fix, Elliot Minor are always played on K. Radio, and always slagged off in K. magazine. Elliot minor are a good rock band, they dont have tons of fans for nothing. They deserved this award more than any other band hands down. I knew they wouldnt win it though because the final desicion was made by Kerrang and not by the voters. Kerrang slagg elliot minor off all the time because they arent heavy metal, and they arent very 'rocky'. All you Elliot Minor and Go Audio fans are so closed-minded its unbelievable. Just because a band who can actually play their instruments and make decent, hard-rocking music without sounding like every other clone that Kerrang puts in their magazine these days. And besides, who exactly are Go Audio? If I remember rightly, they were a last minute addition to the Download Festival line-up whose announcement received little attention even with their forays into the singles chart. I haven't read one jot about them since Download until now, and until I read that they've been dropped by the record label. Slaves To Gravity have to work bloody hard because they don't fit in with this pin-up image the likes of Elliot Minor have. The fact that they even won this award is testament to their hard work and the quality of their music. Personally I think that Elliot Minor should've won. They're really talented and friendly, and for people who think they're stuck-up they're not. I've been an Elliot Minor gig and they were outside before and stopped to have pictures and chat for a little bit, and then were outside afterwards. So don't think about saying they're stuck-up and don't care about the fans. Everyone likes their own band, fine so we should probably just stop arguing now, we can't change it there's no point anymore...

We are well aware that we were the underdogs going into this and honestly didn't expect to win. Musically we are doing something different to the other nominees and we understand that makes is harder for you guys to understand what we do and much easier to just write us off.... Anyway, we know a lot of you are disappointed your band of choice didn't win. It's a good thing that you all have such a passion for the music you love - thats something we really relate to and respect - but any suggestions that the awards were rigged really are a bit ridiculous. I was playing Bullet For My Valentine at my dads, he wasn't impressed at all. In fact he thought i may be becomming suicidle just because i started listening to metal (I'm like the most upbeat lad you would ever meet.) So yeah, thats a miss, and my mum isn't the kind of person to listen to such music. I don't mind though, I listen to what i think is good, they listen to they want. I give people bands to listen to all the time, its up to them if they want to hear more. But yeah, even though your not old i bet you still use "You're lucky as when i was a kid... blah blah" "Back in my day" etc. Its just what parents do ( More common in males than females though)
Well I`m 51 and really grateful to my daughter for introducing me to Slaves To Gravity,and taking me to one of their gigs,they are deserved winners of this award due to their AWESOME live sets,packed with energy and Pure quality tracks taken from their Gobsmackingly brilliant album "Scatter the Crow" and the sheer hard work they`ve put in traipsing the length and breadth of the UK several times over,and gathering new fans at every gig,-undisputable worthy winners who`ve worked their butts off, and yeah! I rank MCR as my ultimate fave band - love that band,along with Avenged Sevenfold,and yeah! I`m beginning to question the fans of the losing bands,they all appear to be acting pretty childish,they can`t be doing Elliot Minor any favours as they must be embarrassing them with this overeaction.
Also, I think I should add. Mel made a good point about given bands a chance, ive just spent a good amount of time listening to each of the bands nominated as i hadn't heard of a few. My dad would often tell me about bieng hit with the cane and what not, so i just see it as natural adult banter. Humm bands i like: Killswitch, Bullet, Black Tide, Fightstar, Forever Never, Disturbed, Led Zep, LP etc. But i also listen to indy music, and others like Daft Punk, M83., Joy Devision, Radiohead, Interpol. Also congrates on having such a smart daughter, she will be raking in the cash. She will be the one paying for gigs when shes older ;)

Well I question wether these people who say who are Slaves to Gravity have actually read Kerrang recently or watched the TV channel, if you actually take time to read the magasine properly you will see that Kerrang has featured Slaves more than once with rave reviews everytime. I saw Slaves To Gravity live in Southampton earlier this year and must say they are one of the best bands I've ever seen, very uniqque and a real breath of fresh air. I hope that the people who don't know who they are do go and actually listen to Slaves to Gravity, there rapidly increasing fanbase is a huge testament to a band truely deserving the success that they deserve. Ok i just gave Slaves to Gravity a listen and they're actually a really good band! From early comparisons im finding it hard to compare them with anyone but bands such as Queens of the Stone Age and Audioslave come to mind. At the end of the day Elliot Minor are a fad who are living off the fame of MCR (who in themselves exploited them emo culture). I dont mind MCR but they're shit live, mainly cos they're fans dont do nothing. As I said earlier i though WATO should of won before but after giving STG a listen i can fully see why they won. A bit like Black Tide they show maturity of a much more expierianced rock band and this is probably just the break they need. As for the other bands I dont mind Go:Audio but lets face they're also a fad and bands such as You Me At 6 are much better at doing the same thing. As for people slagging off Gallows, they're an amazing band, but to expieriance Gallows you have to see them live. It will be like nothing you've ever seen before. But well done to Slaves To Gravity, im sure il see you live at somepoint, but theres no way im going to see you with Aiden.
I don't get how Slaves fo Gravity won...cause in the first place noones actually heard of them and secondly everyones saying how Elliot Minor should have won and it looks as if loads voted for them....so it does seem kind of dodgey.

You do realise that this is just an award. It doesn't mean who wins will become massive stars and those who don't win will stop making music. So really you should all just take a step back and think "It's just an award." Back to topic of music. I'm suprised Open The Skies was not included in this list after making a great album, i really think if they were in the running they would win. I reccomend people to listen to Open The Skies, they are a really good new English band.

yes owen you have a point but one can but try. i hope music continues to inspire you all and most of all i hope you listen to other peoples point of view. many times someone has told me to listen to a band ive never heard of and ive fallen in love with them. just try to be open, now and again youll hear something that will blow you away. yeah ive got my roots in music and that will never change but there is so much good music out there if you just take the time to look for it.. sory going on a bit now arnt i lol

I really didn't want to get into this but the youth of today are just a load of fannys I had to listen to elliot minor on your recommendation and im surprised they are even in karrang, maybe this mag is getting soft but they sound like a boy band. Jeremy, you make a very good point. Anyone who has not heard STG should check 'em out first before making any harsh comments. Also see them live coz they're awesome ( go see them supporting Aiden, even if you don't like Aiden, STG will make it all worth while:o))

why is everyone loving elliot minor so much? they're REALLY bad, i was surprised to see dead swans were one of the nominees and they definitely should have won, amazing band!
