Papa Roach is flat out terrible. Slipknot is good live but has yet to make a masterpiece since their first album. Metallica is still a shell of its former self, but at least they are trying (thank god!) and Placebo who???
What I want you all to know is that Mastodon is the only growing metal band right now with the innovative work ethic which will allow them to reach a global fan base. Crack the Skye is truly a masterpiece and should only be listened to in its entirety. In the end, if you listen to both papa roach and mastodon, you will see what the word innovation means. It means that mastodon has the chance to put the metal world on it's shoulders, like TOOL has done with AEnima and Lateralus more than a decade ago.
Mastodon has two legit masterpieces to their catalog "Leviathan" and now "Crack the Skye". I cant imagine where they will go to on their next album. My hope is that we wont have to wait 5 years or longer.
