I think it's fairly simple maths that the bigger bands won the awards - bigger bands are bigger bands because they have more fucking fans! Moral of the story; if you want your favourite smaller bands to win something, do some promotion for them and help them out, it's fan participation that keeps music alive. Ona lighter, less pissy note, WOO, THE WiLDHEARTS! Good call.

Agree, compared to last year, this time round its rubbish! Attack! Attack! are more entertaining on stage than In case of Fire - I've seen both. Don't really get the hype with My Passion to be honest. The Blackout - genuine guys who are a bit of a laugh and seriously rock - from best british newcomer 08 to not even a nomination in 09 - something wrong there. Other of my favourites that went without awards include YouMeAtSix, The King Blues and Fightstar, all with their haters but they are popular for a reason. And all equally active with tours and albums but not a mention in the awards.OK YM@6 were in the final 5, but thats not good enough for me. And nothing for legendary Green Day! absolute madness! For music so in tune with political times, they deserve an award for having the guts to write music like that. OK to end on a positive, I saw BFMV in March for the first time, even though I didn't know alot of their songs, they are total metal legends and deserved their award without a doubt. Not to say I don't like the other bands - Limp Bizkit for example - they've influenced some of my favourites and are legends in their own right but probably not ready for 'Hall of Fame' Award - maybe they should have got 'most anticipated come-back'? Got to wait another year for these awards - lets hope the people's votes get counted next time.

ok, first of all i'd like to point out that this is my OPINION! everyone calm down a bit, music is subjective. personally, i love icof, whenever ive seen them they've been great and the fact that they got 4Ks for their album shows that the critics (people who actually know what they're talking about) like them too. metro station, on the other hand, got 1K, so there's no way they were going to win (thank god). i like bfmv a lot but they haven't even toured this year so i don't think they really deserved to win, i think it should have been someone who's actually done something. anyway, if you look at the winners they're almost all bands who get good critical receptions (as kerrang pick the final winners), suggesting that they are good bands who'll be here for a while, not some flash in the pan 'sensation' who's career will end as soon as their chosen genre becomes unfashionable and their fans reach something vaguely approaching adulthood. so while i don't like all the bands or agree with all the winners, hats off to kerrang for remembering what 'best' really means.

Yet again the Kerrang Awards were dissapointing. Best UK and International newcomers were shit, Limp Bizkit should never have been considered for the Hall Of Fame, Death Magnetic wasnt the best album of this year. Im not that much of a Slipknot fan but they deserved their 2 awards, Bullet are awesome but there is no British band out there that can even compare to Iron Maiden. The only truely worthy winner this year is Machine Head without doubt. They are one of the best bands on the planet and have been as big an inspiration as bands like Iron Maiden and Metallica!!!

At least some of those absoloutely crap 'sensation' bands didn't win anything, like I was expecting (Metro Station, Tokio Hotel, 3oh!3, crap like them). Slipknot are more deserving of their awards than a lot of the other nominees.
